Amstel

Open the page: Supermarket listings gave two strengths for Amstel. Current Tesco and Asda cans are 3.4%, while Asda listed a 12 x 300ml bottle at 4.1%. We have not found a trade report giving the date the strength was cut.

Asahi Super Dry

Open the page: We checked a claim that Asahi Super Dry had moved to the Griffin Brewery at Chiswick and found nothing to support it. Bottles and cans at Tesco carry Birra Peroni, Rome small print at 5.0%, and the 2024 consolidation at the Griffin Brewery covered Meantime and Dark Star only.

Birra Menabrea Bionda

Open the page: C&C Group's corporate page still says Menabrea is brewed in Biella. Against that, The Grocer reports that C&C moved brewing from Piedmont to the Tennent's brewery in Glasgow in June 2024, and quotes the UK pack as reading 'brewed in the UK the Italian alpine way under the supervision of Birra Menabrea'. The brand's UK site, menabrea.co.uk, says 'Brewed in the UK' in its footer, and so does the Tesco pack wording. We have gone with the UK pack and treat the corporate page as out of date.

Cruzcampo Sevilla

Open the page: Cruzcampo's Spanish site gives Cruzcampo Pilsen, the Spanish beer closest to the UK's Cruzcampo Sevilla, as 4.8%, and that is the home strength we show.

Desperados

Open the page: The 12 x 250ml bottle is marked United Kingdom at Morrisons and Asda (both read 9 September 2026) but Netherlands at Sainsbury's, whose listing prints 'Brewed in: Heineken Brouwerijen BV, Amsterdam'. Either two batches of that pack exist or one listing is out of date. Two listings to one say Britain, so that is what we show until we read the pack ourselves. The 3 x 330ml bottle is Netherlands at all three chains and the 650ml bottle United Kingdom, so the supply is split either way.

Estrella Damm

Open the page: Damm's own release says Estrella Damm has been brewed at Bedford since spring 2024, yet every retail pack still prints 'Brewed by: C.C. Damm S.L., Barcelona'. Ocado's listing for the 10 x 330ml cans adds: 'To ensure we keep up with demand, some Estrella Damm cans may be brewed in the UK, in addition to the stock we continue to import from Barcelona.' Local reporting says the Bedford plant fills cans and kegs only, with no bottling line. So the supply is split: a can may come from Bedford or Barcelona and the pack does not say which, while every bottle we have seen (660ml at Morrisons and Ocado, 4 x 330ml and 12 x 330ml at Morrisons) is from Barcelona. We have not yet seen a can that says Bedford.

Estrella Galicia Especial

Open the page: Two strengths have been reported. The UK beer is 4.7% in both can and bottle, brewed in A Coruna and imported; the 5.5% figure is the Spanish strength of Estrella Galicia Especial, not the UK beer. Tesco had no 330ml bottle listing, so we used the 660ml bottle.

Foster's

Open the page: Two strengths have been reported. Supermarket cans are now 3.4%; 4.0% is the old strength. The Morning Advertiser confirms the cut, announced in November 2025 and in effect from February 2026.

Guinness Draught

Open the page: Two strengths have been reported. Cans in British supermarkets are 4.1% (Tesco's 8 x 440ml and Sainsbury's 4 x 440ml). One older Tesco 4 x 440ml listing still shows 4.2%, the Irish strength, which we take to be out of date or Irish stock. We give the UK strength as 4.1% and the Irish strength as 4.2%; both are brewed at St James's Gate, Dublin.

Leffe Blonde

Open the page: Brauwelt reported on 1 December 2023 that 'as of this year, all Leffe sold in the UK comes from the group's Samlesbury brewery', without saying which packs. The supermarket listings tell a more mixed story. Asda's 440ml can is marked country of origin United Kingdom, with 'Brewed for Br. Abbaye de Leffe, Dinant. AB InBev UK Limited', and so is the PerfectDraft 6L keg at Morrisons. Every 4 x 330ml, 12 x 330ml and 750ml bottle we have read, at Tesco, Ocado, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Waitrose, names InBev Belgium in Brussels as the brewer or Belgium as the origin. We have gone with the packs: in the UK, Leffe Blonde cans are brewed in Britain and the bottles are imported from Belgium.

Mahou Cinco Estrellas

Open the page: Two Morrisons can listings seemed to disagree. The 4 x 440ml can is marked country of origin Spain, 'Brewed by: Mahou S.A., Madrid, and canned by: AB InBev UK Limited', with the United Kingdom as country of packaging, while the 10 x 440ml fridge pack is marked United Kingdom, 'Brewed by: AB InBev UK Limited' (Bestway prints the same for the same barcode). Both listings are still live, and they describe two different packs rather than one pack two ways. So the supply is split by pack: the 4 x 440ml can is brewed in Madrid and canned in Britain, the 10 x 440ml can is brewed in Britain, and the 4 x 330ml and 12 x 330ml bottles are brewed and bottled in Madrid.

Miller Genuine Draft

Open the page: Three listings name three different producers. Morrisons' 12 x 330ml prints 'Brewed by: MCBC (UK) Ltd., Burton-on-Trent' with no country of origin; Bestway's 24 x 330ml gives the Czech Republic as country of origin and says 'Brewed for' Molson Coors UK; Matthew Clark's catalogue says the United States. CAMRA's report 'Beer in the UK' (July 2026, edited by Tim Webb) lists Miller among lagers produced in the UK, without a source, which fits Morrisons but not Bestway. We cannot choose between them until we read a pack ourselves.

Murphy's Irish Stout

Open the page: A second Tesco listing for Murphy's has been recorded as giving Ireland as the country of origin, with Heineken UK Limited as the responsible address. We could not open that page again on 1 October 2026, so we do not know which pack it describes. The UK-brewed reading rests on the listings that print it, and we have found nothing that sets the Ireland entry against them.

Sapporo Premium Beer

Open the page: Carlsberg Britvic's newsroom says 'it will brew and distribute Japan's iconic Sapporo Premium Beer in its UK portfolio from 1 August', as 'the brand's full license partner, overseeing the on-trade and off-trade channels nationwide, as well as all brewing and marketing activities'. Against that, Tesco's listing for the 650ml can (read 5 September 2026) gives Japan as the country of origin and 'Brewed under supervision of Sapporo Breweries Ltd., Tokyo, Japan', at 5.0%. Both can be true during a changeover, so we describe the supply as mixed until we read a pack that says where it was brewed. No source names a UK brewery yet.

Sol

Open the page: Every current supermarket listing we have read (Tesco; Morrisons 15 x 330ml and 24 x 330ml; Asda 15 x 330ml) gives the United Kingdom as the country of origin and 'Brewed by: Heineken UK Limited', and Heineken UK's own beer page lists Sol as 'Brewed in the UK'. Against that, when the strength was cut to 3.4% in February 2025, The Drinks Business wrote that it 'is now produced in Zoeterwoude in the Netherlands' and Somerset Live that it would be 'shipped from the factory in the Netherlands', and the 24 x 330ml pack gives a Heineken Amsterdam address alongside Edinburgh. In 2020 Heineken UK's brand director placed Sol at Tadcaster. The packs say Britain and the trade press says the Netherlands; we have gone with the packs, and name no brewery until we read a bottle ourselves or Heineken UK says where the 3.4% beer is brewed. We did not find Sol cans at any chain.

Staropramen Premium Czech Lager

Open the page: This page is about the packaged beer in supermarkets, chiefly the 660ml bottle. Tesco, Sainsbury's, Ocado and Morrisons all give the United Kingdom as its country of origin, with Molson Coors' Burton address, Morrisons' 12 x 330ml bottles say the same, and Molson Coors' own site lists Staropramen at Burton and Tadcaster. Against that, Ocado and Morrisons give 'Produce of the EU' as the country of packing for the 660ml bottle, a reading in May 2018 had the 330ml bottle marked 'Brewed and bottled in the EU', and the pack still says 'Authentically Czech'. It is often said that UK draught is brewed at Burton while some packaged stock still comes from Prague. The weight of the supermarket evidence is that the packaged beer is brewed in Britain; reading a bottle ourselves would settle the packing question.
