The three claims that matter, where the beer sold in the UK is brewed, its UK strength and who owns the brand, each rest on the brewer's own statement or on a seller's page transcribing the pack. Where the exact brewery is inferred rather than named, the page says so.
two independent passes disagreed; resolution=side_A. Both bottles and cans on Tesco carry Birra Peroni, Rome small print at 5.0%. The 2024 Griffin Brewery consolidation covered Meantime and Dark Star only; no source found for Asahi Super Dry moving to Chiswick. Side B not supported.
Italian brewing, the Shepherd Neame history, the 2018 switch and the UK ABV are all sourced to trade press or the UK retailer small print. Exact end date of the Shepherd Neame contract is given as 2017 to early 2018 (The Grocer reported the change in late 2017, the relaunch was January 2018); treat the 2017 end date as approximate.
The small print on the base of a current can or bottle, giving the producer name and address, would settle this.
In short
Asahi Super Dry is imported. The UK product is brewed in Italy. That is not the country the branding suggests: it is sold as Japanese, but the beer comes from Italy. It is also the same strength as at home, 5.0%. The brand belongs to Asahi Group Holdings, which also owns Fuller's and Peroni Nastro Azzurro in the UK. The label says: "Brewed and Canned by: Birra Peroni S.r.l., Via Birolli, 8 - Roma, Italy. For: Asahi UK Ltd, Asahi House, 88-100 Chertsey Road, Woking, GU21 5BJ, UK."
