At least one of those three claims rests on a secondary source or an inference, a disagreement between sources is still open, or a split supply has a format that has not been read.

Two research passes disagreed, checked 5 September 2026

Carlsberg Britvic's product list gives Hobgoblin Ruby as 5.0%, while the Asda listing for the 4 x 568ml can pack shows 4.5% ABV on the pack image, and the 500ml bottle listing shows no strength. This may be a can-and-bottle split like Proper Job or Landlord, or a change; 5.0% is kept until a pack is read.

Owner, ABV and the Wychwood closure are verified. The current brewery site is inferred from the closure sequence rather than from a source naming Hobgoblin Ruby's brewery.

The small print on the base of a current can or bottle, giving the producer name and address, would settle this.

In short
